office space.
Search firm acquires second office space property this year.
Google has acquired yet another office in the UK, the second in London within recent months. The search giant has leased a high quality seven storey office block right in the heart of the infamous Silicon Roundabout in London. The area is one of David Cameron’s favourite pet projects and aims to attract technology companies from around the world. There is a diverse range of tenants in the area but Google are undoubtedly the biggest (with Facebook in a close second).
TThe offices are located on Bonhill Street in East London and is the second commercial property the company has purchased in n the UK capital. Google also recently acquired Central London offices in order to set up their UK headquarters. The new offices will be used for more creative projects and will also be hosting a series of events to celebrate the opening.
Commenting on the move Eric Van Der Kleij, chief executive of the Tech City Investment Organisation said: “What [companies like Google] do by having a firm footing in the community is provide a channel for innovation, to partner with them and potentially even sell to them. It accelerates the process of the entrepreneur doing a tech startup, selling for a lot of money, creating a lot of millionaires within their organisation and creating recyclable wealth – then going out to do more innovation.”
Amongst the events being held with be a Google ‘hackathon’ which allows amateur and professional coders access to Google code in order to find any mistakes or threats therein. The company has also stated that the office space will be open to developments from independent companies and freelancers.
